My Story

Growing up with a grandmother who was always sewing I learned at a very young age to make Barbie clothes. My interest and ability just grew from there. During my high school years I made my first “runway” formal for a fashion show and a one-of-a-kind French designer inspired formal dress for a French Symposium competition. Life took over and other than making the occasional square-dance ensemble my sewing took a back seat. After marrying into the military and having a family I found myself needing to make awesome Halloween costumes for my son and daughter as we moved from assignment to assignment. Over the years I have made numerous Halloween costumes, formalwear and everyday garments for my husband, Ron (www.ronhackettmusic.com ), my son, Aaron, my daughter, Candace, and myself; plus curtains or new coverings for chairs or benches. Upon settling into my husband's retirement from the Air Force in southern Tennessee I found myself working for a national fabric store and with all that fabric around me everyday my sewing was kicked into a higher gear. I not only had the opportunity to make many display garments for the store but also start my fabric collection.

Making my daughter's Royalty Ensemble for the 2006 TN Renaissance Faire, pictures can be seen under the Prior Creations tab above, required me to do lots of research on garments and spend hours hunting on the Internet for hard to find items. Unsatisfied with what I was finding I dove headfirst into creating my own patterns. After realizing “I could do this” and my daughter's nudging me to start my own business I finally took her advice, quit my then office job and Isle of Rose Creations came to life in the small town of Fayetteville, TN in 2007. I've been researching and creating patterns ever since.
